Cores
The LHS STAR NJ program has three main cores—the Administrative Core, Research Education Core, and Research and Data Analysis Core.
-
Provides the strategic, and diverse organizational, governance, and leadership structure for LHS STAR NJ. It will oversee all program aspects, including integrating and supervising the Education and Research and Data Analysis Cores, supporting LHS Scholars and projects, coordinating with internal and external partners, managing budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The AC has the following specific aims:
- Aim 1: Build an effective leadership and organizational structure to prioritize, coordinate, implement, and evaluate LHS STAR NJ program components.
- Aim 2: Create the mechanisms and procedures for actively engaging LHS and community partners into all aspects of LHS STAR NJ including recruitment and training of LHS Scholars, PCOR/CER project selection, and infrastructure development.
- Aim 3: Coordinate interactions and facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders.
-
Focuses on providing tailored mentoring and experiential training in a supportive environment to build a diverse workforce that addresses the needs of investigators who seek careers as LHS researchers.
The REC has the following specific aims:
- Aim 1: Develop a robust training support infrastructure to support LHS science that advances knowledge and improves patient outcomes and health system performance.
- Aim 2: Foster a well-rounded training experience through a carefully curated program of research, didactic, experiential, and professional development training promoting the mastery of LHS competencies and development of a LHS workforce.
- Aim 3: Create a strong, diverse cohort of LHS STAR NJ scholars to build a collaborative and supportive LHS research environment.
-
Supports the LHS projects in accelerating the experiential learning and professional development of the LHS Scholars and other researchers to promote continuous LHS improvements in our partners. In so doing, the RDAC supports the overall LHS STAR NJ mission of advancing LHS science across the lifespan and care continuum to better improve the quality, safety, outcomes, equity, coordination, and patient-centeredness of care for the patient, populations, and communities.
The RDAC has the following specific aims:
- Aim 1: Leverage resources and core facilities, both existing and new, each of which are re-imagined, to support the LHS STAR NJ program, its LHS Scholars, and other researchers to conduct projects to improve the processes and outcomes of care.
- Aim 2: Promote the dissemination and implementation of PCOR and CER findings to our partner Learning Health Systems, and share lessons learned with researchers, institutions, health systems, and other stakeholders regionally and nationally.
