The LHS Scholars Training Program aims to cultivate a new generation of leaders in Learning Health Systems (LHS) Science by providing education, training, mentorship, and career development opportunities tailored to the professional interests of embedded investigators, clinicians, and health system personnel. Our goal is to nurture LHS Scholars who will contribute to academia, industry, and government.

Pathways: To foster learner-centered career development, we have established three distinct training pathways:

  • Pathway 1: LHS scholars interested in careers as externally-funded, independent investigators. These will be faculty (or faculty in the process of on-boarding) agnostic of terminal degree, clinical or research interest and are expected to allocate up to half of their effort to LHS research. Salary support requested.
  • Pathway 2: Early to mid-career scholars who seek to develop expertise in Comparative Effectiveness Research, Dissemination and Implementation Science, or Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, and/or clinicians with LHS aspirations to become clinical, quality, patient safety, or healthcare delivery innovation program leaders. No salary support requested.
  • Pathway 3: Non-clinical and/or non-research focused professionals employed/supported by health systems, insurers, or government agencies such as data scientists (data analytics, health IT, digital health), or quality improvement, quality and safety, population health, health policy, program evaluation or business operations specialists. No salary support requested.
